چکیده

We report here the preparation of Fe, Co, and FeCo nanoplates and nanoparticles by ball milling in the presence of surfactants in organic solvents. By controlling the milling and centrifugation conditions, the Fe, Co, and FeCo nanoplates and nanoparticles with different sizes were successfully obtained, from the slurries and from the top part of the solutions, respectively. The thickness of the nanoplates is in the range of 20–200 nm and their diameter is from 5 to 30 lm. The Fe, Co, and FeCo nanoparticles of about 6 nm show superparamagnetic behavior at room temperature and are ferromagnetic at low temperatures with blocking temperatures of 33, 103, and 54 K, respectively. It is found that the surfactants play multifold roles in the process. VC 2011 American Institute of Physics. [doi:10.1063/1.3561157]

Sintering and Characterizations of WC-20wt.% (Fe,Co) Nano-Structured Powders Developed by Ball-Milling

The aim of the present work is to study the effects of the nanostructured WC-20 wt. % (Fe,Co) with different ratios of iron to cobalt on the microstructure and hardness of sintered samples. Furthermore, a sample with a cobalt binder under the same condition was produced for the comparison purposes. The nanocomposite development, after different milling times, has been monitored by means of X-ra...

Characterization of the metastable Cu-Fe nanoparticles prepared by the mechanical alloying route

Although Cu and Fe are immiscible under equilibrium conditions, they can form supersaturated solid solutions by mechanical alloying. In this paper, nano-structured of the metastable Cu-Fe phase containing 10, 15, 20 and 25% wt Fe were synthesized by intensive ball milling for 15h, in order to achieve a solid solution of Fe in Cu. The phase composition, dissolution of the Fe atoms into the Cu ma...

Sm-Co hard magnetic nanoparticles prepared by surfactant-assisted ball milling.

Hard magnetic nanoparticles based on the Sm(2)Co(17) and SmCo(5) systems have been successfully produced using a surfactant-assisted ball milling technique. A size-selection process has been developed to obtain nanoparticles of different sizes with narrow size distribution. Significant room-temperature coercivity up to 3.1 kOe has been achieved with the Sm(2)Co(17)-based nanoparticles of an ave...

Synthesis and stabilization of FeCo nanoparticles.

FeCo alloys are an important soft magnetic material because of their unique magnetic properties including large permeability and very high saturation magnetization. FeCo nanoparticles are ideal building blocks for nanostructured thin film or bulk magnetic materials1-3 and are also suitable for biomedical applications.4 However, synthesis of monodisperse FeCo nanoparticles remains a challenging ...

Facile synthesis of high magnetization long term stable bimetallic FeCo nanoparticles

In this study, we reported a facile synthesis of bimetallic FeCo nanoparticles (Fe-Co NPs) by FeSO4.7H2O and Co(Ac)2.4H2O in the presence of sodium borohydride and 2-thiotic acid. The structure and morphology of the nanoparticles were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and Transmission Electron Micros...
